On April 12 - 13, tornadoes and straight-line winds swept through the area, causing significant flooding and downed trees. President Trump issued a major disaster declaration for many TN counties, including ours. Crews worked for months to clean up the devastation caused by this event.
We worked closely with FEMA and TEMA to recover over $275,000.00 for expenses from this tornado.
In total, 72 county-maintained roadways in all districts required repair. Our department worked during less-than-stellar conditions, dealing with the pandemic, normal road maintenance, and mowing while cleaning up rockslides, mudslides, flooding, and downed trees.
Vegetative Debris 3,327 Cubic Yards
Sand/Soil/Mud 2,820 Cubic Yards

"I am very proud of the way the men and women of the Polk County Road Department came together and how they represented the department during this time."
