There are 425 miles of county-maintained roads, and only a fourth are eligible for the State Aid Grant Program.
All other projects are completed using the only money available to pave--Gas Tax Revenue.
This significantly limits the amount of paving, road, and bridge maintenance we can do.
“Since taking office, my goal has been to pave 10 miles of county roads yearly while staying within my budget.
I am proud to say that we have been able to exceed that.
Road work takes 3-M’s–money, machinery, and manpower.
We do what we can, with what we have with no tax increase to citizens.”
Roy G Thomason, Jr., Road Superintendent
